Employee stories

Erik Robinson, Associate Consultant

“What I enjoy most about working at Aquarius is the people. Everyone is engaged, supportive and genuinely working toward the same goals, which makes for a really positive and collaborative environment.”

What do you enjoy most about working at Aquarius?

What I enjoy most about working at Aquarius is the people. Everyone is engaged, supportive and genuinely working toward the same goals, which makes for a really positive and collaborative environment.

I also value the independence we’re given in our work. I’m trusted to take ownership, use my judgment and deliver to the best of my ability before project leads step in to guide or refine things. That balance of autonomy and support makes the work both motivating and rewarding.

How would you describe the company culture in 3 words?

Collaborative, focused and driven. It’s an environment where people work efficiently, are diligent, and are united by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Can you share a moment or a project that has made you feel particularly proud to work at Aquarius?

I felt particularly proud on a project, which was a truly collaborative effort across a five-person team. It was rewarding to be part of a group where everyone had clear roles, shared responsibilities and a structured plan that guided how we worked together. That clarity and teamwork made the whole process smooth and effective. In the end, we produced a strong piece of work that the client was really happy with. Seeing how well the team came together and how our individual contributions combined into something impactful made the project especially meaningful.

How has working at Aquarius helps you grow professionally or personally?

Working at Aquarius has helped me become more confident in my abilities to deliver high quality work I do. I’ve grown personally, especially in how I communicate with both clients and colleagues. I feel much more comfortable and effective in those interactions now. My line manager has been really thoughtful about my development, taking the time to understand my career goals and support me in working towards them. Their guidance has made a big difference in how I’ve developed here.

What makes Aquarius different from other places you’ve worked?

What sets Aquarius apart is the feel of a small, close-knit company. With everyone working from one open office, you naturally see and interact with colleagues across all levels, including senior leadership which makes the environment feel far more personal and less hierarchical than in a larger organisation. You never feel like just a number.

The company also puts real thought into creating moments for people to connect. Events throughout the year from casual pub trips to celebrations like Thanksgiving or Chinese New Year to help people feel welcome and part of the team. These small but meaningful touches contribute to a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

What advice would you give to someone who was considering joining the team?

If you’re thinking about joining Aquarius, it’s important to know that our work is less focused on traditional HTA and more centred around diagnostics and testing. People often associate health economics roles with HTA alone, but the work here is broader. If that focus excites you, Aquarius could be a great fit.

What’s something small that happens at Aquarius that makes a big difference to you?

Heaters underneath our office desks to keep our feet warm. ☺

“The office vibe is focused and highly productive. People are really engaged in their work, it feels laser-focused, with minimal distraction or unnecessary chatter. There’s social interaction and enthusiasm, but it never takes away from the sense of purpose. Overall, it’s an environment where you naturally feel motivated to get things done.”

Emma Crawford, Consulting Lead

“What I enjoy the most about working at Aquarius is the strong sense of teamwork and shared ownership. Everyone genuinely supports one another, and it feels like the whole team is working together towards the best possible outcome. As a smaller organisation, there are real opportunities to develop quickly, have your voice heard and play an influential role in both internal discussions and project work. You also feel that contributions at every level are valued. No one asks others to do something they wouldn’t do themselves, there’s a real sense of equality and mutual respect.”
